WhiteIn is an anti-gravity space racer playable on PC. The goal is to reach the end of the track in time. Meanwhile, you try to avoid or to shoot obstacles in your way. It’s possible to collect a booster that equips you with a shield against your enemies. Special features of the game include:
- procedurally generated tracks
- the track pulses with the beat of the background music
- volumetric path tracer nebula shader
WhiteIn was a fifth-semester project in cooperation with Steven Herrmann, Simon Dittrich and Paul Pernsteiner. It was developed with Unity3D in C#. A source of inspiration was WipEout by Psygnosis Limited. The game can be played with the keyboard or with a controller (XBOX, PS4).
Since it was a project for the courses “Modern Shader Development” and “Audio in Games”, the aim was a colorful game with fancy sound effects, including background music, ambient sound, a synchronized sound and a reverb zone.
My main contribution to the project was the nebula shader together with the stars. You can take a look at the code here (Github Link). It’s an HLSL volumetric cloud shader in Unity3D:
